Academically, Dr. Das completed his graduation from Kolkata University while simultaneously pursuing his musical education. He achieved first-class first in his post-graduation with a gold medal from Ravindra Bharathi University. Later, he pursued his Ph.D. in Music from Bangalore University, focusing on research in both South Indian and North Indian music styles, particularly exploring the nuances of South and North Indian String instruments such as Sitar, Rudra Veena and Surbahar dhrupad.
